Insurance Claims Process

  • Step One: Before Filing a Claim

If you believe your home or building has been damaged by Colorado's weather, your first step should be calling for a certified inspection. Golden Rule Roofing offers inspections by HAAG certified inspectors and written damage scope estimates with photographs. A denied claim may cause increased insurance rates or policy cancellation. If the cost of repairs is less than or close to your deductible, filing a claim may not be the best route to take. Talk with your Golden Rule Representative about your options.

  • Step Two: Filling a Claim

After verifying your home has significant damage that warrants filling a claim, now is the time to file. The claim process can be a confusing experience for anyone if you have not done so before. For us to best assist you in filing a claim, please have your insurance contact information including policy number available. Prior to filing a claim, our standard is to prepare a scope of all damage and work required to repair or reconstruct your property. We will present this scope of work to you and send the report to your insurance company prior to the insurance adjuster meeting. This speeds up the claim process.

  • Step Three: Adjuster Meeting

Upon filing a claim, your insurance company will schedule an adjuster from their company or a third party to inspect the damage. The adjuster is required to contact you within 72 hours of filing a claim to set a time convenient for you. It is important you schedule a time when your Golden Rule Roofing Inspector can attend the adjuster meeting. Golden Rule is your advocate and fiduciary during the restoration process.

  • Step Four: Claim Approval

When your insurance claim has been filed and subsequently approved, your Golden Rule Representative will make sure to go over the insurance estimate details with you. Having a level two Xactimate certified engineer on staff allows us to uncover any missing items and file the appropriate paperwork to the original insurance estimate on your behalf. Now is the time to ask any questions you may have regarding the repair work. We want to make sure you understand exactly what will be done in terms of repairs for every step of the project. Golden Rule will communicate directly to the insurance company for you.

  • Step Five: Project Scheduling

Now that your claim has been approved and your questions have been answered, the next step is to schedule the repair work. Golden Rule Roofing makes it a priority to have repairs scheduled in a timely manner. Golden Rule has International Code Council (ICC) certified staff, following all relevant building codes and manufactures instructions. Your insurance company may ask for proof of the work performed. Golden Rule will provide you and your insurance agent a written certificate upon completion of work. A new roof may qualify you for an insurance premium discount.

  • Step Six: Insurance Checks

Insurance companies will generally send two checks to the property owner. The first check is a partial payment for the actual cash value at the time of property loss or damage, less the insurance deductible. The second check will be sent when Golden Rule Roofing notifies the insurance company of work completion. This check covers the supplement items that may have been missed by insurance, any recoverable depreciation, and building permit fees. The homeowner is responsible for payment in full to Golden Rule Roofing.

Customer Reviews

  • While in the process of selling my house I found out there was significant hail damage on my roof. I called my insurance company and they started the claim and recommended Dan with Golden Rule Roofing. Dan responded promptly and worked directly with the insurance company. Since my house was under contract it was imperative that the roof get replaced as soon as possible. Dan went out of his way to make this happen including weekend work and working around inclement weather. I couldn't be happier with the completed work and the effort and time Dan put into the job. Highly recommended!!

  • "I have had many roofers make many promises about what they will do, but Dan Ruch delivered where others have failed. He was honest and upfront. He jumped though all the hoops my mortgage company required. They came out and took off the old roof within hours and would have completed the roof that day except for some mix-up with the City Inspector. In all, the roof was done by the second day. Dan kept his word, and that means everything to me. I would recommend his company highly."

  • "We had a roof leak in our rental house and my Allstate agent recommended Dan at Golden Rule. While inspecting the roof, he found old hail damage and recommended we file a claim with insurance. He met the adjuster and persuaded them to replace the entire roof because of hail damage. Golden Rule took photos of the process and shared them with us after the work was finished. Dan went above and beyond the call of duty for us. Thank you Dan!"

  • "Dan was recommended by our State Farm agent. His crew replaced our entire roof and cleaned up everything in only one day. The painters did a fabulous job with our old cedar siding on the house and staining the barn. Highly recommend them."

  • "Dan will honestly inspect a roof and tell the homeowner a new roof is not needed."

    – Tom, Allstate agent

  • "With the high winds, we had a large tree branch fall on our roof causing damage to the inside as well. Golden Rule and another roof company were referred by our insurance agent. Dan was quicker to respond and assess the damage. They covered the holes in our roof on the spot as we had snow in the forecast that night. He was very knowledgeable, met with my insurance adjuster and suggested a structural engineer which Allstate approved. The roof replacement and truss repair were completed in one day."

    – Jerrod, Lakewood

  • "The buyer’s inspection found hail damage on our roof. Our American Family agent recommended Dan. He met onsite with the adjuster and convinced him to cover it. We only paid the deductible, saving thousands of dollars. The crew showed up on time and completed all work in one day. Would use Dan again."

    – Eric and Barb, Thornton

  • "Our house was under contract and the closing set for two weeks when the buyer’s inspection found hail damage. Dan met with the insurance adjuster the next day and installed our new roof in time."

    – Derek and Kelly, Aurora

  • "My Allstate agent referred me to Dan after the hail storm in Denver. He personally supervised all the work. Removal of my solar panels, was on site for the roof replacement which involved removing 3 layers of shingles and re-decking with plywood. He also had people install new metal fascia, gutters and siding. Dan was so patient with me and always took time to explain things and returned all my phone calls, even on weekends."
